Local Business Spotlight: Miss Rachel’s Pantry. 1938 S Chadwick St, Philadelphia, PA 19145

Behind the Business

Rachel started her business at the end of 2008 as a Personal Chef, also cooking for punk rock shows and at flea markets. As her business grew, Rachel began doing wedding catering and other events. In 2012 she opened her first brick and mortar located in West Passyunk. After several years it was apparent that she needed more space to better serve her patrons. So, in 2015 with a little help, she started scouting for a new place and landed at her new location on South Chadwick Street. The large open space with a glass garage door sang to her and she immediately knew it would be the perfect spot to bring Miss Rachel’s Pantry to. It has a fantastic vibe and Rachel loves the ability to open and close the garage door. Rachel’s goal is to make your time at the Pantry the easiest part of your day, she wants a fun, cozy atmosphere with the best quality food available.

Why South Philly

While at Temple University Rachel found an apartment in South Philly and fell in love with the area. It was and still is the perfect mix of diverse food and neighborhood pride that made it feel like home for her. The true sense of community and pride for the neighborhood is what brought her there and continues to be the reason she still loves the area. From small local businesses, coffee shops, and bakeries to the friendly hellos she receives from her neighbors as she walks to work.

“I love the support and love we receive from all of our clients”.

Adapting during Covid

Adapting has been the key to her success over the years and changing up how she could serve food during Covid was no different. From having to fully shut down, to delivering meals at home, to slowly opening back up for the business they did a little bit of everything to keep going over the past two years. Now they are back to hosting private events, and their fancy dinners (which I love).  Rachel was also able to start a new project to fulfill one of her largest passions, teaching and helping others learn how to cook. You can now check out her entertaining and informational cooking show online through Patreon. We added a link at the bottom for you to check out her show entitled “Beat Your Meat: A Vegan Cooking Show”
